Why subscribe to Find Your Food Voice?

This is a place to rally as we fix the world’s obsession with the diet industry, not our bodies.

Are you done with dieting? Recovering from an eating disorder? Anti-diet curious? A clinician joining the fight against the diet industry? Well — WELCOME HOME VOICE FINDER!

This weekly newsletter and podcast goes deeeeep into what pushes us to diet. We use the work f*ck often because its messy.

Voice Finders tend to their complicated relationship with food while aiming to build a better food and body culture for those who don’t yet have a connection to their food voice. We do this because everyone deserves to feel at home in their body. Everyone.

Including you.

What won’t you find here?

You won’t find good/bad food lists or pushes to wake up before 6 am to get that workout in. You won’t find tough love lectures or anything trying to shame you into making different choices. You also won’t find weight loss advice, BMI calculators, or new ways to eat less.

Because that’s the bullsh*t keeping us distracted from our food voice.

Hi I’m Julie.

I am seasoned dietitian who is also a divorced mom of two school age kids. After finishing my masters degree in mental health counseling, I spent 20 years running a private practice specializing in PCOS, eating disorders, diabetes, and training clinicians. Now I work out of my garage writing and podcasting. I love speaking (hit me up for your next keynote). My newest title: author. Find Your Food Voice can be found anywhere books are sold.

I am not finished writing and there’s so much more I wanted to include in the book. I consider this space to be where I can keep the conversation going, go deeper, and build more ways out of diet culture.

What is a Food Voice?

noun.

  1. An internal system you were born with to communicate when to eat, how much, and what choices to consume based on what is available. It helps humans eat enough.

  2. A knowing with an unconditional permission for food yet compassionate when outside circumstances (availability, time restraints, oppressive systems like racism or weight bias) block access.

  3. Communication through body awareness like hunger, fullness, fatigue, mood, and satisfaction.

  4. Communication also through thoughts, feelings or guided by structured self-care techniques.

  5. It is always kind, flexible, and nurturing.

  6. A human right.

Why be a paid subscriber?

I wish anti-diet work was free to create and I was subsidized by the government so I could make it free to give. A girl can dream.

I appreciate we all need tools for body liberation yet only a select few can access the therapy, support groups, and courses needed to graduate.

By becoming a paid subscriber today, you will help me make writing and podcasting my full time job, support my small yet mighty team that helps me behind the scenes, and keep most my content free for those without access. Think of it like NPR sales drives—everyone that chips in helps the studio keep the lights on and the voices heard.

What perks do paid subscribers receive?

I don’t have any branded tote bags to give yet have another idea. Join the PCOS PowerFUL tier which provides:

  • Gain access to my discount supplement dispensary saving you hundreds of dollars every year.

  • Supplements: Gathered intel on which PCOS supplements I recommend and why.

  • Labs: Wonder which labs to get at your yearly doctor visit? I’ve got you covered. I put all my recommendations in one place.

Voice Founder Members get this plus direct access to ask me questions every week!
