How to pick a PCOS supplement

Plus new ways to work with me to help increase energy, balance blood sugar, and recover from diet culture living with PCOS

This video and post is sponsored by Ovasitol—my favorite Inositol supplement that I use too! Click here to learn more (affiliate).

Do you know that there are zero FDA approved medications to treat PCOS? We have known about this condition for 100 years and PCOS impacts 5 to 10 million people in the US. This is not ok.

You deserve more tools! No wonder PCOS supplements are a hot topic.

Today’s mini session focuses on how to pick a PCOS supplement.

Check out the first 15 minutes of the video above for the info. Keep in mind something important: this is information for educational purposes only. Be sure to check in with your in person healthcare provider before starting any new supplement.

Here are the cliff notes (do you know this 1990s reference??):

  1. Before picking a supplement, list which PCOS symptoms bother you the most. I tell you why in the video.

  2. Supplements remain unregulated in the US so third party tested ones get the most votes….but. Getting a supplement tested is expensive so prohibitive for many brands. I share some tips if you want to experiment with some not third party tested.

  3. Many PCOS supplements have many different ingredients to make them more marketable. I recommend starting with singular ingredient supplements to start so you know which actually help the symptoms you listed in #1.

  4. Utilize grocery store pharmacists to see if supplement ok to take with your medications. They are my favorite pharmacists with best customer service IMO.

  5. Stick with the new supplement for at least 90 days to monitor if helping or not. Some need 6 months.

What should I teach in next week’s mini session? Don’t hold back. Drop it in comments here.

New ways to work with me!

After a 5 year hiatus, I am dipping back into coaching folks one on one. Here’s how you can work with me:

  • Not new but just a reminder—My PCOS Power membership allows us to asynchronously connect.

    • I teach you all my insight on PCOS management without dieting through self-guided courses and digital workbooks.

    • Lower insulin, balance blood sugar, and improve cardiovascular health with these tools.

    • Includes all my specific supplement recommendations to help you improve the specific symptoms mentioned in today’s video.

    • Includes all the labs and studies I recommend while advocating for weight inclusive healthcare.

  • NEW PCOS Power Plus membership allows us to meet 1 on 1.

    • Monthly meetings over Zoom to get that personal attention to discuss your PCOS experiences, and plan goals to help you feel better. Think more energy and less diet BS.

    • Access to voice note communication with me between these monthly meetings (I use Voxer). This is especially great if you don’t live in my time zone so we can’t make live virtual meetings work.

    • Also includes everything above!

    • Stay as long as you need—no commitment!

    • I am limiting this new offer to 10 folks. I will keep it open to begin until filled.

    • Have questions or wonder if this is a good choice for you? Click here to sign up for a discovery call.

What else am I working on?

  • Just finished reviewing Unapologetic Aging by Debra Benfield—it was amazing! I will share my review as soon as able.

  • I am still reviewing Comprehensive Nutrition Therapy for Co-Occurring GI and Eating Disorders. I wish I had this resource years ago.

  • Booking guest spots to share the Find Your Food Voice book. Have a podcast you think needs the FYFV message? LMK in comments.

  • Check out my latest podcast drop with Coleen and Rachel on Mel Robbins and The Let Them Theory. In it we ask, do we all really need to be doing 11 push ups? Here’s the episode on Spotify:

That’s all for now dear Voice Finder. Thank you for being a part of this movement.

Warmly,

Julie
