Hey there Voice Finder,
Before I get into this week’s podcast episode I want to let you know two things.
First, I am working on an essay sharing all of my tips and strategies I use to help promote a non-diet weight inclusive home. I have two school age kids (12 and 17) and want to pass on the gathered intel. I am definitely not perfect or saying my way is the best way; I just hope it helps you build on your tools with more ideas.
Second, you may notice my email looks a bit different today. Like I mentioned last week, I am sending my emails through a different service (Substack). I will fill you in more on why I moved later but want to keep you in the loop.
Onward to this week’s podcast episode!

After an in person celebration for the Find Your Food Voice book release day (more on that soon!), my team and I got a chance to celebrate with folks near and far. We turned the party into a live podcast episode—actually 2. In part 1, we break down why we are thrilled FYFV is finally out into the world and host a Diet Culture IRL segment. Here are some of the juicy bits:
Diet culture continues to impact various industries, including musical theatre.
Coleen, with years in musical theatre as a plus size actor, helps us understand why Gigi Hadid's casting in the Vogue Hairspray short sparked important conversations about size representation.
While incredibly difficult, speaking up against injustices in media and society causes a ripple effect. The three of us have witnessed that ripple and we are so grateful when folks have done this hard heavy work. Compassion is vital when speaking up can’t happen.
What did you think about Vogue’s decision to cast Gigi Hadid as Tracy? Big deal or nothing burger? Share in comments your thoughts!
